Video Recruitment as a Communication Instrument with Companies – Part 2

Not only the company, but also the candidate benefit from a video recruitment process, because:

  • “Your time to shine”: It’s obvious. With a video you can show the recruiter in the recruitment process who you are. Convince with your individual personality and stand out from the crowd.
  • Soft skills in the foreground: Save examples and sentences in CVs on how best to use your soft skills on the job. In the video recruitment process you can prove these valuable soft skills directly.
  • It saves time: Smartphone pulled out, positioned and off you go! Convince with a short and meaningful message in the video. Show that you can summarize important things in a short time and bring them to the point. Don’t use cumbersome phrases, long sentences or filler words.

The preparation time – Which company are you applying to and who are you?

Nonetheless, candidates must take certain precautions before submitting their application with a single click via video.

  • Publish your application video: You have several ways to send your video to HR staff: through an app, Dropbox, GoogleDrive, OneDrive, WeTransfer or via email. Adjust the format to the correct file size (MP34, MOV is best).
  • The post-processing of the application video: Don’t be too critical of yourself! It is important to obtain feedback from third parties during the video recruitment process. Avoid additional filters and effects in your videos, because you are the only one in the focus.
  • The optimal preparation: That is the be-all and end-all of every application. However, the preparation in a video interview is even more important. Because you have 3 x 45 seconds to present yourself in the Talentcube app and show why you are the right person for the job.

Therefore, first analyze the tasks and the job profile. What keywords do you see? What prior experience is required? What does the company website look like? What do the individual employee profiles or employee videos reveal about the company? Do you realize what you are particularly good at? What are your particular strengths? In which tasks have you already been able to prove that?

Convince with your personality

In order to successfully advertise yourself through a video, you should avoid the following “No-Go’s” in the video recruitment process:

  • Wobbly and restless camera image: Get a tripod or let a person from your family, circle of friends or acquaintances film you.
  • Body language: Nothing betrays our feelings or thoughts more than our own body language. Don’t constantly grab your head, don’t lower your shoulders, don’t support your chin with your hands. Keep your hands open in front of or next to your body. Do not hold objects to feel safer. Do not put your hands in your trouser pocket. Look straight into the camera and keep smiling.

Points in a video application in the recruitment process with your personality and your soft skills. Because more and more companies will follow the digital trend and introduce recruiting via video.
